Course Description:

This seminar will introduce students to nationally competitive scholarship opportunities open to undergraduates (including, but not limited to, Fulbright, Critical Language Scholarships, STEM scholarships, Marshall, Rhodes, Schwarzman, etc.) We’ll discuss the qualities that successful applicants demonstrate–academic achievement, leadership and civic engagement, research experience, global awareness–and consider strategies for making the most of the tremendous resources Syracuse University has to offer. We’ll talk about finding mentors, developing a focus, and honing practical skills like application writing and interviewing. You’ll hear from a variety of experts about how you can become competitive for prestigious scholarships, service opportunities, graduate school, or the job market. *Open to non-Honors students; current or anticipated minimum GPA of 3.5 suggested. Open to first- and second-year students, including non-Honors students.
